The wine list at Warda is long and offers a fair selection of old and new world reds and whites highlighted by classic French favourites and Lebanese discoveries.
Lebanon is the oldest site of wine production in the world. The Phoenicians of its coastal strip were instrumental in spreading wine and viticulture throughout the Mediterranean in ancient times.
Lebanon has a rich heritage of indigenous grapes which are attracting more and more attention, for instance Musar White which is made from a blend of Obaideh and
Merwah.
All Lebanese wines producers use grapes grown in the Bekaa Valley. With an average altitude of 1000m above sea level, the valley's climate is very suitable for vineyards. Abundant winter rain and much sunshine in the summer helps the grapes ripen easily. There are more than a dozen wineries in the Bekaa Valley, producing over six million bottles a year.
